Welcome,

New York, New York

The year was 2004. In the middle of nowhere, America laid a small Chinese restaurant lit up by neon lights. Inside, a little 13-year-old me was sitting behind the counter, eyes glued on the TV as usual. This was the start of my obsessive consumption to moving images.

In-between pauses and plays, I would have to get up briefly to assume the role of cashier. I also juggled translator onto my many other positions. Yes, you would see a little 13-year-old attending court hearings like the time I had to help defend my stepdad against a speeding ticket all while wearing my plaid school uniform. I was like Peter Parker, living a double life—student by day, translator by night. Like they say, “With English comes great responsibility.”

With that great responsibility, I learned the power of words and that was just the start of my journey. You then add images with words and “BAM” a whole world opens… fast forward to many years later.
